Data Retention & Deletion Policy

Effective 3 August 2026

CATCH UP! retains information only for legitimate business, security, legal, and operational purposes.

1. Core Principle

We retain the minimum amount of information necessary to:

  • Operate the Service
  • Protect users
  • Investigate abuse
  • Meet legal obligations

2. Active Accounts

Account information is retained while an account remains active. Examples:

  • Phone number
  • Username
  • Friend graph
  • Profile information
  • Preferences

3. Availability Broadcasts

Now broadcasts expire after four (4) hours. Expired broadcasts are removed from user-facing systems. Operational logs may be retained for security and compliance purposes.

Plans remain visible until their scheduled end date. Expired plans may be archived and later deleted.

4. Contact Discovery Data

Imported contact data is retained only as necessary to support friend discovery and service functionality.

5. Security Logs

Security-related logs may be retained for up to twenty-four (24) months. Examples:

  • Login records
  • Device records
  • Abuse-prevention records
  • Authentication events

6. Abuse Reports

Reports may be retained for up to seven (7) years to investigate repeat offenders, support appeals, and comply with legal obligations.

7. Legal Holds

Information subject to litigation, investigation, or legal requests may be retained beyond normal schedules.

8. Account Deletion

Users may request account deletion. Deletion may include profile removal, friend graph removal, broadcast removal, and plan removal.

Certain information may be retained for security, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.

9. Backup Systems

Information may remain in encrypted backup systems for a limited period following deletion.

10. Deletion Requests

Requests may be submitted to privacy@catchup.website.
